I was first introduced to the world of Aura-Soma at a crystal workshop. The teacher had casually passed around a small bottle of pink coloured liquid which she called a Pomander and instructed us to place three drops in our left palm, following which, we rubbed both hands together, and wafted our arms over and around our body to allow the energies from the Pomander to integrate with our aura. I know what you’re thinking. What hoodly-hoo nonsense is this!? At that time, I had recently completed by Reiki 2 certification, and considering I was in a crystal workshop, I learnt not to dismiss it.
Over the last couple of years, I’ve quickly discovered that life can be experienced beyond what we can see and physically grasp — these experiences can be felt through our subtle energy field, and much like our intuition, the more we trust it, the more it flourishes, and the more we feel. I am speaking from my own personal experience, and fully respect if you think otherwise.
I noticed that my palms were buzzing and tingling with intense excitement the moment the tiny drops came into contact with my skin. I felt a lovely wave of peace and calm envelop me when I inhaled the Pomander — it had a beautiful and tender floral scent, with rose and geranium undertones. I couldn’t fully wrap my head around it, but I knew there was something special.
It wasn’t until months later that I stumbled upon Aura-Soma again, this time, on social media, and I promptly recalled the experience I had. I located a stockist and purchased a bottle of the Pink Pomander and St. Germain Quintessence to try. However, I didn’t develop a dedicated practice, mostly because I was very much involved with other holistic healing modalities. I used only them once in a while when it suited my fancy, however I did enjoy having them on my desk where I could see them daily — there is something captivating about their pretty colours. Occasionally, when I anointed myself, I experienced a lightness in my being, and immensely enjoyed inhaling their natural sweet fragrance of flowers, herbs and essential oils. They felt sacred, and made me feel the same.
What exactly is Aura-Soma? It is a Colour Care System and holistic soul therapy in which visual and non-visual vibrations of colour, crystal energy, plant and herb extracts, combine with light to harmonise the mind, body and soul.
The Aura-Soma Colour Care System consists of 5 main products: Equilibrium, Pomanders, Quintessences, Colour Essences and ArchAngeloi. For the purpose of this article, and as I only own the first three, I will cover just those.
The coloured oils in the Equilibrium bottles, the Pomanders, Quintessences, and other colour related products in the Aura-Soma range, aim to assist in bringing our being into a state of equilibrium. Through colour, Aura-Soma is said to bring consciousness and insight from the soul level of our being into our everyday life, and is especially helpful to those who wish to develop within them, higher levels of consciousness.
Vicky Wall, founder of Aura Soma said: “You are the colours you choose and these reflect our beings needs”. She often used this to explain that the colours we are drawn to show us not only who we intrinsically and truly are, but also what we need in order to bring more of our totality into being.
If you are interested, you can read more about her intriguing history here. It is said that when Vicky created the very first bottle of Equilibrium, she was at that time a retired surgical chiropodist who was clinically blind. Through her deep spiritual and meditation practice, she received Divine guidance to create that first bottle of Equilibrium, which was said to contain a mixture of essential oils and waters from plants and herbs, the energies of crystals and gems, and water from the Glastonbury Chalice Well. I don’t know about you but this magical story blows the socks off my inner woo-woo junkie!
What I particularly appreciate about Aura-Soma is the level of love and care that goes into their production process. Bio-dynamic essential oils and energies of plants and herbs within the products are either grown on their own Shire Farm in Lincolnshire, England, or sourced from similar farms in climate conducive areas. It is also important to note that Aura-Soma products are naturally coloured with plant and herb extracts. (Edit: I found out that most are naturally coloured, but not all are. Some artificial dyes are used for certain colours, although I’m not clear which ones are.)
soil to soul philosophy, which I find highly admirable, stresses that they are not only concerned with what they do, but the way in which they do it, so that all involved may thrive, including the earth which sustains everyone and everything. You can imagine with a level of care and respect rooted in such deep intent, that as an end-user, we will benefit from such positive and well meaning energies which have been infused into their product line.
Back during the Medieval period, Pomanders which are a collection of herbs and flowers were used as a means to purify the atmosphere, by disinfecting, healing or giving protection. With that in mind, I think you probably have an idea of what Aura-Soma Pomanders were conceived for.
They are intended to give protection to the aura, through working within the electromagnetic field surrounding the physical body. As we waft the herbs in the pomander through the aura or energy field around the body, we are creating a layer of protection around the body, preventing negative energies and allowing positive energies to enter. Each Pomander aims to help introduce the energies of colour to which it relates, to help bring into our experience the positive messages of a particular colour into our energy field. They are essentially protective and cleansing, refreshing and strengthening to our energy field. They can also be used as a means to focus our intent.
Pomanders are available in 15 fragrant colour formulations composed of essential oils in a vegetable-based alcohol solution. Each pomander contains varying concentrations of 49 herbal extracts, 7×7 for the 7 sub-levels of the 7 chakras.
The Quintessences on the other hand were created in relation to the Ascended Masters, and they work the subtlest in the Aura-Soma Colour Care System.
“It is believed that Ascended Masters are individuals who were formerly embodied on the Earth and learned the lessons of life during their incarnations. They gained mastery over the limitations of the matter planes, balanced at least 51% of negative karma, and fulfilled their Dharma (Divine Plan). An Ascended Master, in such an understanding, has become God-like and a source of unconditional “Divine Love” to all life, and through the Ascension has united with his or her own “God Self,” the “I AM Presence.” – Wikipedia
According to Aura-Soma, the Quintessences work on the astral level to invoke the energies of the Ascended Masters. As we use the Quintessences on a daily basis we are invoking our own qualities into manifestation from deep within us. The Quintessences help us to accept and recognize our own inner beauty, also and help us with meditation, prayer, contemplation, taking us to a still place, aligning and connecting us to Universal Energy.
There are 15 Quintessences in an array of delicate colours, which are composed of fragrant essential oils, crystal essences and pure herbal extracts in a vegetable-derived alcohol solution.
At the heart of the Aura-Soma Colour Care System lies the Equilibrium. The Equilibrium provides the foundation for our Aura-Soma experience with the living energies of colour and light, crystals, plants and herbs. These beautiful dual coloured formulations contain an upper and lower fraction, oil resting upon water in a state of perfect balance. Our choice of four Equilibrium colour combinations represents our own personal colour code and offers a mirror to our soul, reflecting both who we truly are and what our whole being needs for greater fulfillment and purpose.
As the name suggests, Equilibrium helps to create a state of balance by working specifically on the light body – the colourful electromagnetic field (containing the aura and chakra energy centres) which surrounds the physical body and supports well-being on every level. Working with the Equilibrium can help to energise, harmonise and re-align, enabling us to contribute to the world as who we truly are – our soul purpose.
Each Equilibrium formulation consists of pure-grade botanical oils and water extracts from biodynamically-grown plants, trees and herbs infused with the energies of crystals and gems, colour and light. There are currently 114 bottles to choose from.
It has been about one and a half years since I was first introduced to Aura-Soma, and I am now just getting into a dedicated practice of working with them. Last week, I connected with Frances Kong, a senior Aura-Soma certified teacher and consultant based in Singapore, and what initially was supposed to be a brief meeting to collect a White Air Conditioner (White Pomander in a 100ml spray bottle for clearing space and environments) I had purchased, turned into a coffee session, and thereafter a private consult and me choosing my very first Equilibrium bottle. I must stress that Frances in no way did any pushy sales talk, infact, it was the complete opposite — it was me who was doing all the asking, and she very kindly offered me her time and knowledge. That afternoon spent with her turned out rather serendipitously, and there was most definitely Divine work at play.
The bottle I chose was B23 – Love & Light, and the affirmation for it is: “I accept myself the way I am. I allow myself to just be.” When Frances read it out to me, I couldn’t believe it. The affirmation “to just be” has repeatedly been coming up since the beginning of this year, and two days after choosing my bottle, again I see the same message pop up on my Instagram feed. I honestly believe that things have a way of working themselves into our lives when we are ready to receive it. The Universe is constantly sending us messages, but we have to be open and aware to notice them. I’m not sure where my Aura-Soma journey is going to take me, but I’m excited to find out.
Thank you for reading this incredibly lengthy article, and I hope that it was in some way useful to you. If you have tried Aura-Soma, I would love to hear your experience!
Love & light,
