Hello, My name is Clare and I am a scent-oholic. Perfumes are to me what shoes are to Carrie Bradshaw – Yup! My perfume + essential oil collection can easily rival her walk-in closet. I am scent obsessed, can you tell?
It’s no secret that options for high quality natural perfumes aren’t in abundance, so when I learn about a good one, I make a mad dash for it like a crazed Rebecca Bloomwood at a sample sale. Except, it only involves my keyboard and mouse – no one actually gets hurt, I promise.
Enter, Fez – The Perfume Oil (I purchased mine from the lovely people at Integrity Botanicals). Fez was one of the latest introductions by Kahina Giving Beauty late last year which I had read many lovely things about. The perfume is an extension of the very popular signature Fez Body Serum which I learnt many were hoping a perfume version would be added -and they did! Don’t you just love a brand that listens to its fans? I do!
I can see why so many raved about it; it truly is a sophisticated, intoxicating, sultry scent. I would describe the fragrance as spicy, exotic, woodsy, earthy with a certain smokey mystery to it. On first sniff, it comes across very spicy – with scents of cumin, clove (think Moroccan spice markets) and hints of orange blossom peeking through. Now, I honestly feel the initial spiciness may not sit so well with some, but hang on! The best has yet to come.
After about 15 minutes or so, the initial spiciness mellows down, and beautiful grounding scents of sandalwood and patchouli (the highlight of this perfume) warms up and comes through. The beauty of these woodsy oils is in the way they develop and improve over time – quite like fine wine, you simply cannot get enough.
If you are familiar with your essential oils you would know that pure sandalwood is one of the most expensive and luxurious oils available and is often reserved for high quality perfumes and aromatherapy blends. It has a fragrant woodsy sweetness and known to be an excellent mood uplifter, comforter and aphrodisiac – pretty much your sultry date night scent which Fez encapsulates.
I absolutely love that the perfume comes in Kahina’s signature sleek dark violet glass bottle and a stainless steel roller ball applicator – the latter something I don’t often come across, considering how plastic seems to be a more common and cheaper alternative amongst others. But, I appreciate that Kahina takes quality very seriously. Also, the perfume is blended in a carrier base of jojoba oil – only the very best! If you enjoy spicy, warm, earthy scents with that notable intoxicating factor, look no further. Fez is absolute luxury and truly worth the splurge!
