Self love (not to be mistaken for self-centeredness) is something we often neglect but yet absolutely necessary to practice. When we take time to love and nurture ourselves, it often spills over into other areas of our lives and also to the people around us. Others will also be naturally attracted to you and want to be in your company. It is a win win for all.
It is impossible to give someone our best when we are physically and emotionally exhausted, or worse, taking out our frustrations and stress (that arise from underlying issues) on to others. Nobody likes hanging out with a grumpalumphagus (Yes, that’s a real thing) or get their head chewed off for no good reason.
When we give ourselves our best, we can then offer our best selves to others. Love begins with ourselves.
Today’s affirmation, from my Louise Hay deck:
“Loving others is easy when I love and accept myself. My heart is open. I allow my love to flow freely. I love myself. I love others and others love me.”
This weekend, do something for YOU. Perhaps take a nice relaxing bath, get a manicure, read a good book, whip up something delicious, sign up for a dance class or maybe journaling? Do something that will nourish your mind, body and soul. Trust me, it will do wonders for your spirit!
(Please skip the next section if crystals and energy healing isn’t for you. Otherwise, magical woo-woo on!)
Some crystals I like to work with to support this process are Rose Quartz, Pink Tourmaline, Pink Opal, Mangano Calcite, Amethyst and Green Fluorite. My favorite is Rose Quartz, which is common to many as the stone of Love and Friendship. It has a very soft gentle energy, which is nurturing and comforting, hence the reason why it is often used in many areas of healing work – we need a lot of love in the healing process.
Personally, I enjoy meditating with crystals, or laying them on my chakra points, and let them work their magic. I also sometimes carry a pouch of stones (not more than 5) in my pocket/jacket. I know others who have them kept in their bra – I haven’t got round to this yet. The thought of having a third nipple is disconcerting! I don’t know how other ladies work around this? Does it not show up? Anyway, I digress..
You might also notice that the stones I have mentioned are mostly pink in color, and that is because they resonate with our heart chakra. Pink and green are the colors that represent the heart chakra, so crystals that fall under this color category work well for healing work in this area. However, I always believe in listening to our intuition. We are more intuitive than we realize, and our bodies always know best. There is no hard and fast rule here, so if you feel drawn to a crystal that isn’t typically for the heart chakra (or whatever chakra you are working on), I say go for it! Go with your intuition, you will never go wrong.
What are some of your me-time activities? Do you work with crystals? I’d love to hear!
Love & light,
